The Seattle-Isfahan Challenge has commissioned new is effective by 3 Iranian composers living outside of Iran (Anahita Abbasi, Farziah Fallah, Parisa Sabet) and 3 Seattle composers (Jeff Bowen, Huck Hodge, Yigit Kolat) to attract focus to the the drought in Iran that is impacting the Zayandeh-Roud river in the metropolis of Isfahan. Mangal is an xperimental ensemble conceived by SoCal-based mrudangam participant and composer Rajna Swaminathan, with Seattle artists Zahyr Lauren, Carlos Snaider, Neil Welch, and Ha-Yang Kim and site visitors Anya Yermakova and Caroline Davis, offered with assistance from The Ocean Memory Challenge.
