Nirupama Menon Rao is a retired Indian diplomat, overseas secretary, and ambassador. She was India’s initial woman spokesperson in the Ministry of Exterior Affairs, New Delhi. She was also the initial lady large commissioner from India to Sri Lanka, the initially Indian woman ambassador to the People’s Republic of China and served as India’s International Secretary from 2009-2011 following which he was appointed India’s ambassador to the United States where she served for a time period of two several years from 2001-2013. Her poems have been translated into Chinese and Russian language too.
