‘Blade Runner’ Soundtrack Composer Vangelis Dies Aged 79
Greek electronic and orchestral composer Vangelis has died. The 79 calendar year old musician died in a French medical center, where by he was being handled for an disease.

Vangelis was born Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou in the coastal Greek town of Agria, and grew up in Athens. He played organ in various pop bands in the 1960s. He began scoring Greek movies in the early 1970s, though also launching a vocation as a solo artist. His solo repertoire ranged from ambient and avant-garde digital compositions to jazz, blues, and classical motivated prog-rock.
Vangelis’ most recent album, Juno to Jupiter, came out in September 2021. Even though his film soundtrack perform was intermittent, he and Scott teamed up again on the 1992 film, 1492: Conquest of Paradise. He also composed new music for documentaries by maritime conservationist Jacques Cousteau and his son, Pierre-Yves Cousteau.
